For the first entry on this list, I will assume that you are on a budget after spending most of your money on the monitor. With that assumption set, you are looking for the best GPU for 1440p 144hz gaming on a budget, and I would recommend the ZOTAC Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super.

This GPU is easily one of the best ones out there when you are a bit low on cash but still want to enjoy gaming on your glorious monitor. It can handle most games and run them on max settings with a minimum frame rate being 100 FPS at 1440p resolution.

High-demanding titles may require you to lower the settings a bit to get a frame rate over 100.  The ZOTAC Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super is clocked at 14 Gbps and boasts a 6GB 192-bit GDDR6 memory. Essentially, this twin fan is a video card that was made for 1080p resolution.

AMD wanted a chunk out of that sweet mid-range market share that Nvidia has been enjoying for a long time, and they tried to capture it with 2 graphic cards, the better of which is this AMD Radeon 5700XT. The AMD Radeon is a powerful 5700 XT graphics card that offers very impressive performance when compared to its competing Nvidia graphic cards, as I mentioned above.

Now, add the Asus card, and the combined stack is a much larger and a much better performing GPU with three fans and custom cooling. This card is made using Asus’ new 7nm Navi 10 architecture and comes equipped with 8GB of 256-Bit GDDR6 graphics memory.

The ASUS ROG AMD RADEON 5700XT can certainly be overclocked and comes with a ton of awesome components like factory OC, a number of goodies with custom PCD, and customizable RGB lights Aura SYNC technology. There is a manual switch to enter dual-bios for shifting performance and turn LED on or off.

This GPU performed well and is a perfect addition to your setup if you wish to enjoy titles on 1440p resolutions and 144hz smoothly. It is certainly a bit expensive when you compare it directly to the AMD Radeon 5700XT, you are paying, on average, 200 bucks more, but when you consider all of the offerings by Asus, it is worth it.

3. MSI RADEON RX 5600 XT - BEST SILENT GPU

Recently launched. all-new RDNA powered Radeon RX 5600 series. The XT was announced all the way back in January of 2020, it is finally here. Created to offer users an exceptional gaming series but a fairly budget price.

The MSI Gaming Radeon RX 5600 XT is jam-packed with features like its RDNA architecture meaning it has a full-metal backplate, RGB lighting and MSI’s Twin Frozr 7 thermal design.

In terms of performance features, you will be getting Radeon Image Sharpening, FidelityFX, and VR technologies3 with a boost clock up to 1750 MHz along with the game clock up to 1615 MHz.

This card. in terms of sheer performance, is not going to compete with the more expensive model but then again, it is not competing with those high-tier cards. It priced quite competitively and at this point, it offers better performance than you would expect.

4. SAPPHIRE NITRO RX 5700 XT - BEST GPU FOR VIDEO EDITING

The Sapphire Radeon Nitro RX 5700 XT is an amazing deal, thanks to its very competitive pricing. It provides you with performance equivalent to (almost) the much higher priced, upper-midrange RTX 2070 Super, so naturally, it is an awesome choice, provided DLSS and RTX support are not a factor for you.

Built using AMD’s Navi architecture, using a 7nm silicon fabrication process and AMD’s new number-mashing equipment, which they call the RDNA to compute units. Naturally, this is not a major factor, but this graphic card looks apart.

It boasts a nice combination of black and silver with metal at the back. I dig it a lot. However, for all your RGB fans, there is a header that you can use for getting those lights up.

This graphic card comes equipped with 8GB 256-bit GDDR6 memory with the latest-generation PCI-Express 4.0 x16 host interface, so it is compatible with older versions. It boasts a massive 448 GB/s of bandwidth along with 14GBps of memory frequency.

For the most part, if you wish to do gaming at 1440p resolution at 144hz, this Sapphire Radeon Nitro RX 5700 XT will allow you to do so just fine at a low price, however, do note that there are a few drivers issues. AMD has resolved most driver issues now and will continue to hopefully do so but yeah, just something to keep in mind.

I would consider this EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC to be the best GPU for 1440p 144hz gaming, arguably. Remember, I said arguably, not objectively. Of course, you can spend a fortune and get the best of specs out there, but that only if money isn’t a factor, and unless you are a million, it most likely is.

However, what makes this the best GPU for 1440p 144hz, in my opinion, is that it provides you with a solid performance at a fairly reasonable price point.

The EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC comes equipped with 11 GB GDDR6 across a 352-bit with a boost clock speed of 1650 MHz, 25Hz higher than the Founder’s edition. This graphic card is designed after Nvidia’s reference design PCB but with much-appreciated additions like a triple-slot and a dual-HDB-fan setup to better regulate the temperature much quieter.

This graphic card should run most games at a fantastic 100FPS on max setting while using a 4k monitor. It has real-time ray tracing, which, admittedly, most games do not use anymore, but many still do, and is a plus. 

It comes with both RTS and DLSS support and is 6 times previous generations of graphics cards, so your gaming experience is going to be majestic with no compromises.

Many games do not support those features, which only makes this a future-proof GPU. Overall, if you want a graphic card that is not only future-proof, with no compromises, and lets you enjoy games at 1440p resolution at 144hz, this is it.

6. ASUS GEFORCE RTX 2070 SUPER OVERCLOCKED

If you grew up on a crappy laptop like me, you aren’t averse to playing games at lower settings. In that case, I would recommend to you the ASUS GeForce RTX 2070 Super Overclocked to be the best GPU for 1440p 144hz for AAA games at low-to-medium settings. You don’t always have to get the latest equipment to get things done.

This mid-ranger does a very good job. You can certainly get 100FPS on 1440p resolution even while on max-settings, but the minimum FPS you will go with is 60 to 70 FPS, which is still very reasonable.

This ASUS GeForce RTX 2070 Super overclocked comes equipped with 8 GB of memory clocked at 14Gbps across a 256-bit GDDR6 memory interface with 448 GB/s memory bandwidth. Despite being mid-range, you still want a bit of future-proofing for which there is RTX and DLSS support, which is amazing as DLSS is only getting better with time.

The back of this graphic card has a black-metal plate, and there is a physical button to turn on or off the RGB lighting. For every demanding title, you might need to go lower settings, but for the most part, it is going to run most games at 100 FPS on medium-to-high settings. Excellent mid-range choice.

7. GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 1660 TI GAMING OC 6G

This flagship GPU has a ton of going for it with just 1 major con. The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Gaming OC 6G is the company’s flagship graphic card, and it shows with its premium quality and some rather overkill cooling system.

This best GPU For 1440p 144hz was built for people who wish to game with a minimum frame-rate of 60FPS (it will get much higher FPS, note that I said “minimum” 60 fps) at a resolution of 1080p and performs decently well at 1440p resolution as well.

The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti underneath the stack is one of the first tuning-based graphic cards that exclusively focused on efficiency and performance. The company Gigabyte offers a (1,860 MHz) GPU boost along with a huge PCB and thermal solution with their offerings.

Though it is supposed to be the company’s flagship, I am disappointed with the plastic back. No big deal, it does not harm anything, but it certainly does not help with cooling either.

This GPU is built well, provides you with RGB lighting, performs well, and has a high power limit, but that one major con I mentioned above is that you can get a Radeon RX Vega 56 for pretty much the same prices, which performs much better, rendering this graphic card to appear rather underwhelming.

8. ASUS ROG STRIX GEFORCE RTX 2080TI OC

Hands down, the best GPU for 1440p 144hz and it better be with that price tag. This Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2080Ti OC is in a league of its own. There is pretty much nothing that this graphic card cannot run. The best of games, the most demanding titles, can run on a 4k resolution monitor with ease on max settings with 60 plus FPS.

Remember, everything is set to the absolute max! The most FPS I could get was around 80. This graphic card looks rather basic, which I honestly prefer, but Asus has added several features to its build that adds to its overall strength, making it more durable.

Over the original, there is an increase of 30Mhz (1665MHz), and the memory has been overclocked to 14000MHz. This is objectively the best choice out there, but that price tag, though!
