During gameplay, every frame matters; thus, you must have a monitor that can justify your gaming skills and also make an immersive experience for you. Here I present Acer Nitro XV272U, a true gaming monitor that never misses any second of the action.

The Acer Nitro XV272U 27 inch monitor has a IPS panel that comes with exquisite design, game-focused hardware components, and features.

With this monitor, your gaming will never be in the dark. In every visual, you will get maximum illumination, decent contrast, and rich color production which ACER has genuinely worked. For fast-paced gaming, you get AMD Radeon FreeSync technology and G-Sync, which makes your gaming more realistic and with accurate fluid motions.

On this horizontal screen, you will get the highest quality picture resolution in rich, vibrant colors that will make your office tasks, gaming, and web entertainment more joyful. Although the resolution I was expecting to be higher than this, it is still manageable for many FPS games and HDR content.

The design of the Acer Nitro monitor is pretty satisfying with its thin bezels and sturdy black foundation. You would get comfortable eye-level viewing from every angle without stressing your eyesight. On the whole, this is a perfect sized 27”, 1440p WQHD monitor that is built for serious gamers and web designers.

BOTTOM LINE

ACER NITRO XV272U REVIEW

IMAGE QUALITY

If you are a gamer, film editor, photographer, or any profession that demands the highest picture quality, then Acer Nitro XV272U is here to impress you. This monitor is ideal for professional editing that includes all display standards utilized by the film industry, MMO, and FPS gaming.

To experience the highest color vibrancy, you get DisplayHDR 400 certified by VESA that ensures perfect color production and contrast so that the users can enjoy AAA games, HDR movies, and web content in the highest resolution.

The Acer 27 IPS monitor has a perfect HDR color gamut with an outstanding 95% DCI-P3 color space, which also supports 130% of the sRGB content. With the latest update in this monitor, you get an additional feature of Max Brightness. When this setting is activated, the monitor looks much brighter than it ever was, so you can enjoy your activities even in the darkest room.

Acer Nitro XV272U Review

With this model, you get maximum SDR brightness of 400cd/m2, but it was found out to be lower than it was advertised with the latest MAX brightness update. You will get exactly what’s advertised, i.e., 400cd/㎡; for HDR contents, the peak HDR brightness is 400 cd/㎡ as well but gets significantly brighter than the SDR range when HDR setting is enabled.

The Acer Nitro monitor has an average 1,029:1 contrast ratio that’s common in most of the IPS monitors but still provides good gray uniformity in the darkest room, with this monitor, you cannot complain about the evenness of blacks as it has good 1.608% native black uniformity which makes vary per unit.

The IPS panel makes sure horizontal angle viewing as well as vertical angle viewing is accurate. You would get even and exact visuals from all the angles, and hence is ideal for multiplayer gaming. At an affordable price range, you get a maximum color profile that makes everything on the screen lifelike.

PERFORMANCE

The Acer Nitro XV272U monitor can handle pretty much everything you want to do on your computer, right from gaming film editing to binge-watching shows and movies. Whenever there’s an intense action in the gameplay, precision matters without which your gaming would have no meaning. Acer Nitro XV272U understands the need for precision hence never misses a single action because of the rapid 144Hz refresh rate that improves frame rendering and reduces input lag.

Fortunately, this monitor is HDR-enabled and makes HDR-based games such as WWII and COD very intense and fun. Although the HDR standards are not completely met with this model, unlike many HDR monitors, nevertheless you will be able to enjoy little HDR viewing on content that does not have dynamic contrast demand.

Get each display validation from NVIDIA with its latest NVIDIA G-SYNC technology that brings smooth, fluid visuals in every frame. The variable refresh rate(VRR) for this monitor is 144Hz which is enough to eliminate screen tearing flickers in between the game.

This monitor is entitled to remain locked at a 144Hz frame rate whether HDR mode is on or off. But if you enable AMD FreeSync on this monitor, it can yield between 120Hz to 130Hz VVR range without causing any refreshing or rendering problems.

Please make a note of this. You cannot use HDR FreeSync or G-Sync mode at the same time. You have to either keep HDR mode enabled or FreeSync mode. To recoup, you can use 1ms VRB, which stands for Visual Response Boost technology that reduces motion blur but turns out it’s not enough to completely control motion blur.

By a good chance, the 4ms GTG response time helps reduce the motion blur of fast-moving objects in most of the FP games.

In this monitor, input lag accounts for 4ms response time when you activate the Ultra-Low Latency function listed on the OSD menu. Overall, Acer Nitro XV272U is an ideal gaming monitor for skilled FP gamers that demand super-fast response and no screen tearing.

FEATURES

Besides G-Sync and Visual Response Boost(VRB), you get a built-in AimPoint to feature a custom crosshair with this monitor. This feature is highly useful in shooting games that lets you focus at the center and make a visibly clear aim at the opponent.

The Acer Nitro XV272U has a ‘Black Boost’ setting that increases the visibility of the objects on the screen with a dark background. When you enable this setting, all the blacks will appear darker, but up to a certain range if you go beyond, it would crush up the blacks; thus, you must keep it under control to enjoy perfect visibility even from a distance.

NVIDIA G-Sync technology is compatible with this monitor that allows fast rendering and smooth fluid motions in VVR games. When you enable this setting, all the visuals or artifacts will have a smooth texture and no flickers, all thanks to its 144Hz frame rate that reduces screen tearing or shuttering that may happen if the fps is not met during any fast-paced games.

Acer Nitro XV272U Review

VESA Display HDR™ 400 certification ensures the perfect color gamut and contrast of every image that appears on the screen. AAA games are often HDR-based, so if you don’t run them on a monitor that is not compatible with HDR, you would not be able to enjoy your game to its maximum potential. Hence, you have entry-level Display HDR technology to make every image appear more lifelike and vibrant.

VRB technology is the highlight of this monitor, which is equivalent to 1ms MRPT. What it does is control motion blur in fast-moving objects so that you don’t see doubling of objects in fast-paced games. When you enable the VRB mode, you are enabling each frame to appear in a 1millisecond response time which is not at all noticeable to the human eye.

Design and Connectivity

The Acer Nitro XV272U is a simple yet stylish flat-screen monitor with 3-sided thin bezels and a thicker bezel at the bottom. The stand on which this monitor sits is metal built that ensures maximum stability and less wobble of the screen. The back of this monitor is not very fibrous, unlike most gaming monitors. Therefore, this monitor is also suitable for the r office environment.

The build quality of this monitor is not highly promising due to its use of mediocre quality plastic and metal stand. Overall, I can say the build quality of this monitor is average, but the ergonomics are not disappointing at all. You get excellent ergonomic features on this model with all sorts of adjustments. The height adjustment of this monitor is 4.7” (120mm), which can be adjusted as per the user’s preference.

The display works best in both landscape and portrait mode, making viewing much easier even from a few inch distance. With this monitor, or you get VESA mount compatibility, -25° to +5° tilt range and swivel range -180° to +180°, which is not provided in all gaming monitors. The stand has a metal plate that allows the monitor to swivel in the ful360-degree swing.

The Acer Nitro XV272U monitor offers plenty of connectivity options, including HDMI, 2X HDMI-in, 1 DisplayPort, 1 USB 3.0 Upstream, 4 USB 3.0 Downstream, and 2x 2 W integrated speakers. FreeSyn works best with 1.2 DisplayPort and HDMI; NVIDIA G-Sync works only on DisplayPort.
